Information Is Not Knowledge!
Don’t Become A Zombiepreneur
Albert Einstein was quoted as saying, “Information is not Knowledge”, interestingly, the rest of the quote ends with,”the Only Source of Knowledge is Experience”. John Nesbit author of Megatrends said, ” We are Drowning in Information but Starved for Knowledge”. Frank Zappa said “Information is not Knowledge” , “Knowledge is not Wisdom”, “Wisdom is not Truth”. We can read and see Quote after Quote by the Great One’s in all Walks of Life that Information is not Knowledge!
Is Information and Knowledge the Same?
Businessman Ian Lurie, in his March 2012 article titled “Information is Free, Knowledge is Not, said that in Business, Everyone keeps confusing Information with Knowledge. They are different. Even the dictionary says so:
Information: Facts provided or learned about something or someone.
Knowledge: Information and skills acquired through experience or education; the theoretical or practical understanding of a subject.
Ian goes on to say; Companies and Entrepreneurs have it backwards. Too often we invest in the acquisition of Information instead of securing Knowledge. Knowledge Wins! Information Maintains! Information is ones and zero’s. It’s instructions on filling out forms, how to do this and how to do that. Information is the obvious stuff and a lot of times you can acquire information for free. Knowledge is something else entirely. It’s what you get when you combine information with analysis and experience. Knowledge is information distilled down to actions. Information becomes Knowledge only when you learn how to use it.
Knowledge Makes You Unique
Information Can Only Take You So Far!
If you build a business using information , you’re just part of the herd. Everyone around you is doing the same thing: They all visited the same web sites. They all assume that having a list of undigested facts entitles them to success. So they all join an army of zombiepreneurs. And they all walk into the same wood-chipper.
Instead, Make Yourself Unique. Acquire real Knowledge.
Learn More then memorized facts.
Whatever the business task, make sure you truly understand it and the implications of your actions.
Seek help from others who have the knowledge you need. You can’t know everything!
One way to end up in the Internet Marketer’s Graveyard is to value Information over Knowledge. Knowledge will make you and your business Great! There will be times you will pay for Knowledge in money or effort. Sometimes Knowledge In itself will come when you join a great Affiliate Marketing Program like Wealthy Affiliate. In closing, Remember these last words on Knowledge from Ian Lurie.
